Child Safety and
Safeguarding Policy
Welcome to Intellia. The safety and well-being of every child using our platform is our highest priority. We are committed to creating a secure and responsible digital learning environment that complies with all applicable Indian laws, including the IT Rules, 2021, and the DPDP Act, 2023.
This policy outlines the measures we take to protect Student Users (especially those under 18, defined as "Children" under the DPDP Act) and details the roles of parents, schools, and Intellia in maintaining this environment.
1. Our Commitment to Child Safety
A. Zero Tolerance for Harmful Content
We maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy against the creation, uploading, sharing, or transmission of any content that is:
Sexually explicit or abusive material.
Depicting child abuse or exploitation.
Harmful, harassing, defamatory, or hateful towards any individual or group, particularly based on gender, caste, religion, or community.
Encouraging self-harm or violence.
Any user found violating this policy will face immediate and permanent suspension, and we will report the incident to the appropriate legal authorities as required by Indian law.
B. Proactive Content Filtering
Our platform employs both algorithmic filtering and human moderation to detect and remove prohibited content as quickly as possible. We actively monitor communications and uploaded content (such as answers, essays, or prompts to the AI) for safety violations.
2. Privacy and Data Protection for Children
A. Compliance with DPDP Act, 2023
As an educational technology provider, we adhere to the specific requirements for processing the data of a Child (under 18):
Verifiable Parental Consent: We rely on the Educational Client (School/District) to secure and maintain verifiable consent from the parent or lawful guardian before the Child’s Personal Data is processed on the Intellia platform.
No Detriment to Well-being: We only process a Child's data for the specific purpose of providing the educational service. We do not track Children for targeted advertising, conduct processing that is likely to cause detriment to their well-being, or micro-target services to them.
B. Data Minimisation
We only collect the minimum amount of Personal Data necessary from students to deliver the core educational service (e.g., grading, personalized learning). We do not collect sensitive personal data like financial details, medical records, or biometric information.
3. Safe Interaction with the AI Assistant
Intellia's AI features are designed purely for educational assistance. We implement safeguards to prevent misuse:
Contextual Guardrails: The AI is programmed with protective guardrails that block it from responding to prompts requesting inappropriate, illegal, or non-academic information.
Monitoring and Logging: All interactions between Student Users and the AI (including prompts and responses) are logged and monitored by the system and are accessible to the Educator Users and the Client for supervision.
No Personal Sharing: The AI is strictly an educational tool and is programmed not to ask for or store private, non-academic personal information (e.g., home address, family details) from the student.
4. User and School Responsibilities
Maintaining a safe environment is a shared responsibility:
A. School/Client Responsibility
The School/Client must ensure that:
They obtain all necessary parental consents for student data processing as required by Indian law.
Students are provided with appropriate safety training and are educated on the responsible use of online platforms.
They promptly notify Intellia of any suspected safety or privacy breach.
B. Educator Responsibility
Educators are our primary safety monitors and should:
Actively supervise student activity on the platform during class time.
Review student interactions and AI outputs regularly.
Report any suspicious activity or attempts to bypass safety features immediately to the school administration and Intellia.
C. Parent/Guardian Responsibility
Parents are encouraged to:
Monitor their child's usage of Intellia and other digital platforms.
Discuss digital safety and appropriate online behavior with their child.
Contact the school administration immediately if they observe any unsafe or inappropriate activity.
